Introduction
The Professional Days Calculator is a versatile tool designed to help you perform two main
types of date calculations:
- Calculate the exact time between two dates in various formats
- Add or subtract specific time units (years, months, weeks, days) from a date
This guide will walk you through how to use each feature of the calculator effectively.
Days Between Dates Calculator
This feature allows you to calculate the exact time between two dates, displayed in multiple
formats.
How to Use:
- Select a Start Date using the date picker
- Select an End Date using the date picker
- Choose whether to Include end date in calculation by checking or
unchecking the box
- Click the Calculate Days button
Tip: When you include the end date in the calculation, the calculator
counts both the start and end dates as complete days. For example, if you calculate from
January 1 to January 3 with this option checked, the result will be 3 days instead of 2.
Understanding the Results:
The calculator displays the time difference in four different formats:
- Years, Months, Days - Example: 26 years 10 months 9 days
- Total Months and Days - Example: 322 months 9 days
- Weeks and Days - Example: 1401 weeks 3 days
- Total Calendar Days - Example: 9810 calendar days
Example: If you calculate from January 15, 1995 to October 24, 2021, you
might see:
- 26 years 9 months 9 days
- or 321 months 9 days
- or 1397 weeks 2 days
- or 9779 calendar days
Add/Subtract Time Calculator
This feature allows you to add or subtract specific time units from a date to find a future
or past date.
How to Use:
- Select a Base Date using the date picker
- Choose the Operation (Add Time or Subtract Time)
- Enter the amount of time to add or subtract:
- Years - Enter the number of years
- Months - Enter the number of months
- Weeks - Enter the number of weeks
- Days - Enter the number of days
- Optionally check Skip Saturdays and Sundays if you want to exclude
weekends from the days calculation
- Click the Calculate Result Date button
Note: You must enter at least one time unit (years, months, weeks, or
days). If you enter zero for all units, the calculator will prompt you to enter a value.
Understanding the Results:
The calculator will display:
- The resulting date after adding or subtracting the specified time
- A summary of the time units added or subtracted
Example: If you add 2 years, 3 months, 1 week, and 5 days to January 1,
2023, the result will be April 13, 2025.
Weekend Skipping Feature:
When you check "Skip Saturdays and Sundays", the calculator will skip weekend days when
adding or subtracting days. This is useful for business day calculations.
Important: The weekend skipping feature only applies to the days portion of
your calculation, not to years, months, or weeks.
Example: If you add 10 days to Monday, January 1, 2024, with weekend
skipping enabled, the result will be Friday, January 12, 2024 (skipping Saturday, January 6
and Sunday, January 7).
